Distracted or Nah?

You’re headed in the right direction. You’re studying and working your butt off. You’re going full throttle in the direction of your dreams. You’re spending more time with God and really trying to live a life that is on fire for Him. Maybe you’ve even started a new relationship or you’re seriously talking to someone who’s really pursuing you and is a person after God’s own heart. But then you’re ex comes back.. You’re offered a great opportunity that seems great at first, but has too many strings attached.. Your job becomes boring and every day seems the same… A new person waltzes into your life finer than ever (tempting I know)…

You’re tempted by distraction. Don’t think it’s a coincidence. It’s almost as if God is testing us to see if we’ll be loyal and patient with what we’ve been given or if we’ll run to the new “toy” that’s been strategically put in front of us. My sister Candice said it best this morning “Don’t be confused. Sometimes we get so excited when we meet new people that we begin to question the old stuff. We all like change but you have to decide if the change is what you honestly want.”

She brought up an excellent point… Do we really want a TOTAL change or do we just want to fix a few things in that situation? I have a super bad habit of running to something new instead of seeing if I can work on the same issues in my current. I give up before I try. Because if we’re hones, we all just want to know if what we’re doing is worth our time.

“No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the couse of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it” – I Corinthians 10:13.

Though God allows us to be tested, He’ll never push us farther than we can handle. On top of that, He’s always there WHEN WE CALL HIM. Notice, I did not say when we try to fix it ourselces. He doesn’t sit up high and laugh at us as we try to discern what He wants us to do – but he HELPS.

Let’s start passing these tests and fulfilling our commitments with love and peace,

Cherise Nicole 🙂

God Can Still Use YOU!

You’ve had sex. You aren’t as truthful as you want to be. You’ve watched porn. You’ve cheated. You cuss a lot. You got pregnant at an early age. You had an abortion. You were abused. You were a stripper. You were molested. You’re not the “typical” shouting, praying in tongues, Scripture quoting, deep Christian. You don’t have to be.

GOD HAS NOT THROWN YOU AWAY! A lot of times people run from God because they feel like they aren’t clean or perfect enough for God. I thought the same thing. I came to God at 14 with a lot of baggage: I had daddy issues, I had almost been molested by a guy I trusted, I was watching porn frequently, I had a huge self-confidence issue, and I was super close to turning to sex to fulfill the voids in my heart. On top of that I was outwardly arrogant and I lied for no reason.

I’m far from perfect as you can see. But God still chose to use me. An imperfect being who had no clue how to build a relationship with the Creator of the Universe. Jesus uses the BROKEN. Regardless of what you’ve done or been through…. He can still use you, mold you, heal you, and yes forgive you. He still and will always LOVE you in spite of it all.

So now what? Talk to Him. You don’t have to know how to speak in tongues to talk to Him either. Just be honest and genuine. He unlike humans, doesn’t expect you to have it all together or know what to say. He just wants to hear from you. He wants to spend time with you like any relationship or friendship you have – even if in the beginning it’s only for 10-15 minutes a day. From there start reading your Bible (there are great reading plans on YouVersion, try different translations like NLT or MSG). Journal, sing, worship, whatever it is that gets you closer to him.

Surrender your heart to Him today, there’s no better time than now.
